Moonee Valley, Victoria
This mixed-use development comprising apartments, townhouses, retail, hotel, offices and entertainment venues is being developed on a 9ha landholding owned by the Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC). The joint venture project, Moonee Valley Park, has been designed to create a benchmark in neighbourhood living with extensive green landscaped and open recreational spaces. The MVRC will construct a new Grandstand precinct, racetrack and Infield events and community spaces. The total investment value of the project is in excess of $2Bn.
Early 2016 David was appointed on a 3 year contract as the Head of Development for the MVRC. He was responsible for implementing numerous strategic initiatives culminating in the successful selection of a preferred development partner for the MVRC. David also initiated a transition strategy prior to completion of his role which included an internal project management and client management team with requisite skills to work through the complexities of managing an operational racing and events business amidst the construction of a major development project.
The key challenge was the implementation of a long-term sustainable financial platform designed to meet the Club’s project objectives. David also ensured that early stakeholder engagement with the Council executive and the local Resident’s Group created a positive and responsive foundation for both the MVRC and its development partner to establish a long-term community engagement plan.
